Boys & Girls Clubs of King County
Volunteers

There are many ways to get involved with Rotary Boys & Girls Club. A contribution of your time and experience is a wonderful way to make a difference.

Volunteer requirements: Background checks are a legal requirement for all volunteers to ensure our member safety. In addition, volunteers are invited to attend a Club orientation where you’ll learn about Club history, philosophy, and opportunities to become involved so that you can make the biggest impact. For additional information about open volunteer opportunities, contact Grant at gdouglas@positiveplace.org.

Volunteer opportunities available:

Afterschool Games Room and Gym Activities

Billiards, foosball, ping pong, board games, basketball, soccer, active games, playground
Adults are often needed to teach sportsmanship and skills to youth in our games rooms and gymnasiums. Having additional adults in the games room means that our members are surrounded with positive role models. One-on-one interaction between youth and adults is an essential building block for healthy development of youth.

Education Center and Computers

Homework assistance, tutoring, storytelling, word processing, Web design, Internet surfing, tech support, supervision, programming
Academic success is key to a child’s future success. Each day kids come to our Club from school looking for help with their homework. Adults are needed to provide assistance through tutoring, storytelling, word processing, etc. Since today’s families are so busy, it is difficult for parents to take time in the evenings to help their child with homework.

Coaching

Flag football, tackle football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, martial arts, wrestling, track, dodgeball
Adults are needed to provide encouragement, teach skills, model sportsmanship and teamwork, and serve as positive role models to youth in our athletic program. One-on-one interaction between youth and adults is an essential building block for healthy development.

Maintenance

Construction, painting, cleaning, grounds keeping, landscaping, van repair
Our Clubs are each used by hundreds of kids daily, and our equipment and facilities get extreme use by active kids. If you have a skill or an interest in this area, your help can save the Club dollars better spent on providing activities for youth, and you can help create an environment where members feel comfortable and at home.

Fundraising
